World AIDS DAY

The concept of a World AIDS Day originated at the 1988 World Summit of Ministers of Health on Programmes for AIDS Prevention. Since then, it has been taken up by governments, international organizations and charities around the world.

For APO, every day is world AIDS day, however on December 1st each year, we join forces with the rest of the world to raise awareness, celebrate life, and remember those who have died from this pandemic.

For World AIDS Day 2009, we will have an assortment of activities to mark the day. Here is a brief rundown of what the day will hold.

  1. Outreach and testing at both MSU and Drury university
  2. Candlelight vigil on the square in Springfield from 5:30-6:30pm
  3. National AIDS quilt panel viewing at APO After Dark (303 Park Central West, Springfield) immediately following the vigil.
